Warped sheet balsa - solutions?

Postby JimT » Tue Nov 29, 2011 8:44 pm

I have a few kits that have been sitting around for a while, and some of the printwood sheets have developed a twist or warp, and no longer lay flat in the box. I figured I should deal with this while the part are still on the sheet and not cut out.

Some of the kits are Guillows, some are not. Does anyone have any ideas about how best to do this? Steam followed by weighting down under a perfectly flat surface?

This is a great forum to peruse, and I wanted to avail myself of the vast collective wisdom represented with this little problem.

Thanks!

steaming it and then weighing it down in my mind would work sufficiently. a slight warp is sometimes common in the sheets. It wont affect your parts unless you are building from a large piece of sheet wood that is warped.
