Score! 5 for the price of 1

I was cruizing through the local classified adds and saw a listing for a Guillows Sopwith. Came to find out that they flip storage units, and they had 5 Guillows kits. Picked them all up for about the price of the discounted Sopwith. Good thing is that I only have one of the kits, the Cessna 180, the rest are new to me. I just about doubled the build pile in one purchase! The Sopwith and the Bird Dog were opened, but all of the contents were there. I was suprised to find that the little parts (prop hook, clay...) were in a Guillows glider pag that was stapeled shut. I hadn't seen that before, I guess all of my other kits were newer. Those two had catalogs from 87 and 94, so they are a little older. Just had to share the great find.

I think the kit deals may start increasing, as the previous estate buyers are starting to realize that there is less interest in kit building, and that if they don't sell them reasonably, then they will just continue to get less money for them. I hadn't been at Ebay for years, and realized that some prices had come down, as people just aren't paying as much. The Sopwith is a really nice kit, and not built much either as it's a bit more work than some of the others, but worth the effort. Makes a good rc flyer also. I even have the little 190 as an rc flyer, but that's a different story.

Nice find, there.

I have seen Guillow put the small parts in a glider bag in several of my kit purchases. And that sounds about right, my kits were bought mostly in the late '80's and early '90's.
