Thomas Morse Scout Kit 201...Help Required

Hi
After hours of work and dedication I seem to have come to a full stop.

The stringers that go to former B3 is not flush with the stringers above and below
The former's are the correct size as to plan.
Is this the norm with this kit or any adjustments required?


Wings/stabilizer are prepared and ready for tissue
I don't plan on building the rotary engine, just going to put the engine picture that is shown onto the nose cowl

Ps...What is an Aileron push pull tube?

I have not built the Morse Scout kit but, I'll try to answer your questions, as most of the Guillow models are of similar construction.

B3 former question:
What you are describing sounds as if the notches in the formers are not deep enough? Or there are not any notches and the stringer lays on top of former B3? I can't tell from the plans you are showing. Picture of the model, maybe?

An aileron push-pull tube, is just a small diameter tube, that moves the ailerons. The tube can move the aileron by pushing on the aileron and pulling. The difference being that a cable aileron system needs 1 cable to pull in one direction and another cable to pull in the other direction. Push pull tubes are easier to deal with in model planes than a cable or wire system.
Maybe I can find a picture.

On your model, I'm thinking the push-pull tube is the link from the upper wing aileron to the lower wing aileron???
Does the Scout have 4 ailerons?

I looked and the picture you posted. I just noticed the black arrows and the push-pull tube on the drawing.


The full size aircraft, that is a metal tube, about 3/4" in diameter and would be connected to the control stick with linkages.
You could use a small wooden dowel or if you really wanted to get fancy, use a .060" diameter brass tube. Some hobby stores have brass or aluminum tube.

Let me look around the internet, I'll try to answer the stringer question.

That is exactly what I was trying to explain.
As you can see from both pictures the stringer from former B1-B3 is a little bit deeper than the others
