Looking for a set of plans for an AM5

Postby joecrouse » Tue Sep 17, 2013 9:40 am

I can reverse engineer a KI 33 with gull wing if i have to.

I am doing a Model of the AM5 for an art exhibit sometime next year to go with the movie "The Wind Rises" Directed by Hayao Miyazaki, I also want to send a set of plans to Miyazaki-san as a retirement present ( I know a guy that knows a guy that will get the plans to the man). The model will be then auctioned off and the proceeds donated to the Earthquake/Nuclear disaster charities. If anyone can point me in the right direction it would be a big help.

Joe,

I was not sure what the AM5 is, I did a search and found info on: The Mitsubishi A5M, Japanese Navy designation was "Type 96 carrier-based fighter"

Is that the plane you are looking for? If you join hippocket (another building forum) they have hundreds of OOP plans you can download. I just looked over there and found a couple of plans for Japanese planes.

COOL Thanks Bill. Gotta get to work on this thing before the Con Circuit starts again Next year.

For those of you who are curious go out and See Miyazaki-san's last movie (he is retiring after 50 years of being the "Japanese Walt Disney") The Wind Rises. A whimsical fictionalized account of the life of Jiro Horikoshi the designer of many of the Japanese fighters of WW2. The English dub should be out later this year. Mr Miyazaki also did the Movie Porcco Rosso involving the Between the Wars Era of Flying in and around the eastern Mediterranean. You guys will like either of them. Take your small kids and grandchildren... Even if you have to watch it in Subtitled.
