Glow Power!

I recently bought a Cox .049 RC Bomber from Cox in Canada. I am going to bolt it to something, but I do not Yet know what. I think I used one of those last in 1983, and have the scars to prove it on My fingers. It had a spring loaded starter on the prop.It had a built on tank. I then moved to a .052 maybe? Had a Red Case, and no spring or attached tank. I put it in a 2 channel Foam wing Plane with light Ply fuselage. It had no throttle. It was all or nothing. It flew good, and I broke a lot of wings on landings. Had an ACE RC radio. Delivered papers a long time to get it. Those things will run a good hour on an Oz. of fuel, and landing on full throttle was not really landing. I remember Panick. And 4-6 weeks for wing delivery. I then lost the time for it after High School. With the Technical School, and girls, etc. I was working on a SIG Kommander and had a New .15 ENYA for it. 25 Years later I am back into it, and over all those Years I always knew I was not done with Planes. I thought about it a lot. Anyway, about 6 0r 7 Yrs. ago I gave away that ENYA to a friend. (not foreseeing My new found freedom)(Divorce). And My now grown up Kids. She never liked Planes. I went to the Willow Grove Navy Base Airshow every Year til they closed, Never thinking I would ever Fly again. Only to look at Planes. I am so lucky to have caught My Ex Cheating. Thank You God. And back to the subject; I wanted a gas Engine really, but was astonished at the mega-high cost of an over polished weed wacker Engine! I can maybe understand the radials, but a 2 stroke single cyl 50cc or smaller being a few hundred bucks? and extra for one with piston rings!? I am a Auto Mechanic for 30+ Yrs. I am currently a Land Rover which is basically a BMW Engine mechanical Guy at the moment, and I know what these things are made of, and what it costs to make them (I was a machinist for a time also). Some One is making a fortune. The COX company did send Me an E-Mail explaining that the shippiong from Canada to the US was equal to the production cost, but anyway, I am glad they have throttles now, and upset I gave away a new .15 I got for $20 that would be like 8 times that now, But I intend to use My years of expertise, and adapt gas Engines for Airplane use and to share that information publically. Maybe I can find a Place who will let Me use their lath, Bridgeport, and oven and make My own. I do respect the guys on U-tube who make replica Merlins, and Radials and they Run. One guy made a small block Chevy as a hobby, and now sells them to the RC Car world, but I do not care what You say; reliability must be not great on a multi- cylinder Engine of that small scale.
