DH Mosquito

I've bought a Guillow's DH Mosquito for $88 on Ebay - is that a good price, bearing in mind this kit is no longer manufactured by Guillows?

Oh, so you're the one. $86 is probably a good deal. Some of the current production kits of that size, e.g. the B-25 , retail for $57.00 or so.The Mosquito is very desirable in my opinion. You might go to the Yahoo group Guillow's model builders and mention what you just purchased If I had the money I would have bid on it. What do you plan to do with it? Was the box sealed, I don't remember. I can only think that the value of that kit would go up.

The bix was not sealed. The item was described as complete, but with a tatty box. Here's the link to the auction item:

I hope it is complete - having taken a look at the picture of the kit contents on virtuaerodome, I'm not sure!

I intend to build the kit (that's what they are for, isn't it?), and hope to be able to convert it to simple RC (maybe for indoor RC only).

Electric r/c sounds like the way to go for that model. You could go with rubber but, with those short nacelles I don't think you would get much of a flight.
Besides the balsa may not be the lightest. YOu can check the date of manufacture by looking at the backof the decal sheet. Mosquitos are great looking airplanes. ONe thing I like about a balsa model Mossie is that the real airplane was made of wood also. HOw about posting your build on virtualaerodrome? :)
