500 series as catapult gliders

Postby svaughn » Mon Dec 28, 2009 12:43 pm

Hi,

I'm alway curious about how to make this hobby more accessible to young people. The power on guillow kits adds some complexity to the experience whether it be nitro, electric or even rubber.

I'm wondering if anyone has ever tried to build a 500 series as a catapult gider. If so, what kind of problems did you run into?

If you think this idea is totally crazy (and causes you to wonder about my own sanity), I think it came to me because I have seen articles and videos of WWII aircraft being used to model slope gliders over the past few months. Below are links to a couple of products and also a video of a P-38 slope glider.
