900 series Chipmunk dihedral help please.

Postby skyjet » Fri Oct 15, 2010 4:54 pm

Hi. i have just covered my Chipmunk and when i have come to attach the wings the angle of rib one is giving a dihedral of almost two inches each side the plan states the dihedral should be 11/16 ths, as rib one is attached to W4 which has a set angle this seeme very strange and is miles out, has anyboy else had this problem and how did you fix it, good job i did not glue the wings on and then check the dihedral.

Thank you for any help Skyjet

Chipmunk dihedral out.

Postby skyjet » Sun Oct 17, 2010 2:18 pm

Hi, found out what caused the dihedral to be to great, i was a gnats whisker out glueing W4 to the bottom of the bottom wing spar this increased the dihedral angle at the top of rib one, it was so easy to make this mistake so double check if you are making one, i had to cut off both rib ones and alter the W4 angles.
