Ahoy
This will be my first build here on the forum I am new although I dont get on here thaty mjuch the weather is getting bettwer now so i put my ship model builds and my as well get involved with balsa models. This is a Guillows SBD kit I got this as gift from fwyflyer a member of the virtual Areodrome forum, A ghreat man with a great Heart I will build this ion his honer. I started yesterday on the build in the beginning of the fuselage construction i ma building this right from the box and the way the kit was designed there will be no filling between the formers and stringers, all tissue covered and painted blue gray with light gray undersides. As of now I have got the fuselage assembly finished withe exception of the cardstock parts like life raft compartments they will be added after the fuselage is covered.

Deckape,

For a first Guillow's model, your SBD-3 Dauntless looks like it's going really good. Keep up the good work.

With your experience building wooden model sailing ships, you will surely bring some good skills with you for building balsa model airplanes. I also have built several wooden model sailing ships, all from Artesiana Latina kits. Those are extremely challenging, to say the least. Tons of detail that you really have to pay super close attention to. But the finished model, when done properly, is definately worth it. 8) You'll find the same is true of the Guillow's kits as well.

Look forward to more pictures as you progress.

thank you sir for your reply this is my second build here on the forum working on 5 models at a time I forgot i posted my P39 Aracobra series 800 I mostly work on paper models anmd scratch built I hardly ever work on kits. But this SBD fills the bi8ll for me. I Have the Amsterdam Tug By Artesiana Latina All Rc. For the money their kits are pretty reasonable cost wise when fished the make a great addition to the collector in mind. Thank you my Friend.

Here are the Tail feathers Just completed them letting them dry to touch before sanding away to shape. As of now I am turning too on the fuselage sanding it down prepareing it for covering. Should have a few more pictures before the night ends. so far on the bui8ld no fit issues goes together very well it takes time to study and get to know the action plan one thing on the plans they dont give you information on the shims for the trailing edges of the rudder and stabilizer assembles. you just got to keep looking at thye plans and the model builds itself your hands help

The covering has just begun after applying 6 coats of nitraite dope for sealing sanding in between coats givs a good surface to laydown the tissue skins, scince i am applying tissues instead of filling in between the stringers allows faster progress besides i can use the wood for future scratch builds. I should have the intire fuselage structure completed late this evening. Boats :D :D :D :D

Polishing up the cockpit interier details still needs more work instead of making a new 30 cal. tail gun i used the kits instead, this kit is built out of the box no filling in between the stringers with balsa all tissue covered, tomorrow I,ll get her ready for painting all blue gray with light gray uinder surfaces,
