Just got this in the mail today...

Only 16 inch ws... I need to scale it up to 1/16 scale...that would be 23 inch ws... It will fit in with my 400 series Luftwaffe!

If you look at the top of the plan it shows how to catapult launch... I hope to see some of this stuff at WESTFAC IV

I still have a lot of Guillows projects to finish... I'll need to go over to the VA sight when I build this one...

Richard crossley is a top modeller, I am currently working on a RE2000 that he designed.....

If you take a look on you tube you can probably find his crossley flea which is a weird looking light plane from the early days, it doesn't look like it would make it to the end of a runway never mind fly!

I plan to build this as Plane a Glider as there are no more Jetex Engines... Then eventually catapult it... Looks like a small version of the "High Start" I used when I flew RC Gliders... High Start was 60 feet of surgical tubing with 300 feet of line, a ring and a parachute. Launch your model into the wind to get it up 300 feet high and look for thermals... The High Start line Drifts back to you on the parachute... Nice Quiet Fun Afternoons...

I use any old clear plastic packaging I can get, it's trial and error what works but hey it's recycling!

100 % Right. I always use whatever I can and recycle. I would of course first experiment with scrap plastic also. I think I just wrote that I would buy some because I saw it on the EasyBuilt site, thinking about ordering magnets and noticed they have large sheets of clear plastic. I might need a large piece for the canopy on the Komet. BUT I have a lot of other projects to finish. I hope by sharing these ideas with all of you forces me to finish my projects. Mitch

I've got soooo much going on now and WESTFAC coming up... Still need to my finish other WW1 models... I just ordered some stuff a bit ago and got the Komet plans in the mail on Sat. It was hard to keep quiet... and this the Guillow site... Just wanted to show you guys the plans...

I want to get the models I have here ready AND finish the Eindecker... Next Event I will hope to have more diverse models so I can enter more contests during the event...

It has been a while, but it looked like others answered your question. I bought the plan from Sam's in UK. It is only one sheet, and MOST of the parts are presented, but not ALL. They show R1 and R6, but I will have to draw my own Ribs R2 though R5. I plan to rescale the plans to 1/16th, same as Guillows 400 series. I have not started this yet, as I have too many things going on as it is.

I just presented this here as I figured it is not anything that was competing against Guillows.

My first choice of projects is a lazer cut kit, or I might make a modified lazer cut kit... and I am NOT planning to make this model soon. If you make it yourself you will have to print, copy and cut ALL the parts, and make the canopy. I do not think the kit is available... I have also been looking on ebay. The model is designed to be catapult launched as a glider or use Jetex Power (also NO longer available).

The Kit is very much available, as per Bill's link. It will work with rapier motors (like Jetex) if you can get hold of them.

Okay... I was spending the day cleaning up... and the only thing I can not find are my plans for the Komet... You jarred my memory and I suppose I did NOT order the kit as I wanted it to be the same scale as my Guillows 400 series. Most people I meet do NOT care about scale and I would suggest, BUY THE KIT. It does not look that difficult, but I have made changes or re-scale re-builds, and I would PREFER to build a kit.

Maybe I will order the KIT and build it.

I have be collecting and filing my plans, but misplaced the Komet. My friend from FAC says he ALWAYS starts with 3 sets of plans. ONE to work off of. TWO to use if he needs to cut up for templates and such... and THREE he keeps and files away. As I remember it is fairly close to 1/16 scale and would look fine up against any of the 400 series.

I think I will order the KIT next time I order something... but next on my build list is a Guillows FW 190 A3 modified to be a FW 190 A7.

PS Just went to the link... the kit is 16" ws, 1/16 scale would be 23" ws, that was why I just ordered the plans! Just watched the video of the plane flying... They were not in Southern CA, did you see that nice green grass... Nothing like Perris, CA!

UPDATE: I just found my plans... and they do seem a bit small. I also have them blown up to 1/16th scale on letter paper. When I get ready to build this plane I will build it to 1/16th scale!

I don't know what it is, maybe it is psychological, but I have never found German aircraft particularly appealing. I realize that other countries like the U.S., France, England and Japan made "war machines of the sky" but they always seemed to have some warmth and character about them and certain type of individuality for each model. But I guess that there is something in my mind in which I see German aircraft as the ultimate utilitarian war machines. A certain coldness with a single minded purpose. Could be just me.

I understand what you say, but I like the idea of "Design at the Cutting Edge of Technology" You have to admit that German Aircraft Design was at the cutting edge at the end of WWII. Here is my inventory:

Okay the first one is a Mig 15, but I think with just a little adjustment it will pass for a Focke-Wulf Ta 183.

All these models are designed for Raiper Motors. I do NOT have any of those yet. They look like they would fit in nicely with the 500 series of Guillows.

I will NOT be building these models on this website as they are NOT Guillows... just thought I would show you what I found!

They NEED to be built VERY light to fly. The Me 262 will have ONE motor in the fuselage. There was apparently some Me 262's built with a rocket assist engine in that position.
