Beautiful build. As a new old-timer, what paint did you use to outline the canopy? I remember 45 years ago using tiny 10 cent bottles of Testor's enamels. Is that what you use, and any recommendation where I can get some colors? I am relearning all over.

That is still a great technique that requires patience and skill. On this bird I glued strips of tissue onto the canopy.

That is a very clever idea. I am thinking of using acrylic art paint because if you make a goof you can wipe it off with a damp q tip or rinse it off completely, yet will dry to a durable finish. Some painter's masking tape (the blue stuff) carefully cut and applied works too when I restore an old cuckoo clock. I will try it first on a scrap of plastic from the kit, and report back. The other good thing about that paint is it comes in a zillion colors and sells at craft stores for about a dollar or so a bottle- no more 10 cent paint.

old thread, but a couple of questions. BTW you set a high bar..

- were you able to fly with rubber power?
- how much clay did you need to balance the plane?
- final weight?

cheers

I did fly it on rubber and had to add a big lump of clay to the nose.

r wheatley, if you have a Hobby Lobby nearby, you will find that they normally carry both the 400 series Mustang and P-40 Warhawk in addition to some other Guillow's models. Hobby Lobby seems to always have a "40% off any one item" coupon available on their website (http://www.hobbylobby.com/weekly/weekly.cfm), which makes it a great deal. I also agree that AC Supply Co. is a excellent source for these kits.
