I used 3/16 rubber and got almost a min. flight with mine. The dive may be from the rubber bunching up at the nose. Twist the rubber first, then tie the knot. Also, make sure the plane is trimmed with the rubber inside during the gliding phase of trimming.

The rubber was 3/16 and twisted. Because the clearence in the nose is so big, bunching was not an issue. Basically it needs some right thrust.

Because I had the kids with me today (and they aren't that patient whilst Daddy plays) I trimmed quick for powered flight missing the glide altogether - a bit dangerous I know, but these things have enough structure to take the hits. Getting both downthrust and sidethrust at the same time isn't that easy with the standard nose arrangement, so I just used the rudder and wing tab to balance the torque, so once the motor ran down it spiralled in quick, it had been up in the air 30s or so before the camera rolled. When I have a bit more time I'll do it properly.......
