I have kept many spare parts inc. balsa, tissue, landing gear, plans, etc, etc from failed builds since coming to balsa, a practice i used when i built with plastic (arrragggh)
Now that I am learning to build differently, I have invested in a small jigsaw

So my 20 dollar 109 flew at WESTFAC IV and flew into 3rd place...

Damage from the engine explosion has been done and she will fly again, but I will put everything I learned into the new 109G model...

...so my advice is...

...build the model from the kit and learn how it all goes together. Then with a few replacement parts build the next model cheaper and better!

Thought I would just bring back this post one more time for an update:

She was fully repaired and flew again in Colorado, but it was a very windy day and she did not fair well. But I am pleased with the score card I recieved from the judges table:

Construction: 28 out of 30
Color and Markings: 17 out of 20
and Workmanship: 12.5 out of 12.5... That's 100%

Now I just have to send her back into the repair shop for her next "Battle" Mitch :?
