Rubber band

Postby ADW 123 » Mon Mar 01, 2010 6:52 pm

does anyone have anytips about how to make it so a rubber band doesnt streach out? because usually after the first wind up the rubber band looses most of its strechiness.... and what about how to make it fly well?

Don't bother with the band with the kit it is useless. Buy some tan rubber which you can buy cheap on line. It's all the same thickness only the strip width changes. 3/16" is about the right width for 500 series birds, and don't forget to lube it with castor oil or castor oil mixed with green soap, otherwise it will snap in no time.

stretching rubber

Postby granpa » Mon Sep 26, 2011 5:16 pm

I bought some rubber on line that gave instructions on pre conditioning. Beside lubing they had a stretching protocol. You stretch the rubber to 3 times its length and hold for 3min. then you let the rubber rest for 15 min. Then stretch to 4 times its length and hold for 4 min. I'm doing this from memory so don't put your eye out....

Well, spook I have a problem of being some 400 miles from a well stocked hobby shop or store so just about all my hobby needs are done on line. I imagine shipping costs are somewhat prohibitive, when you ship internationally,as for me I wait until I have enough to order that gives me a break on the shipping costs. Nice to hear from someone from S.Africa.

The Reverse “S” is probably the best thing you can do for a Guillows kit. I order the “Wire” from Guillow’s. I order the wire for the “Landing Gear For The Arrow Kit.” I order about 5 of them at a time.

Hi Spook,

I sent you a PM with a contact from the RC Forum, he builds some Nice Stick and Tissue stuff, and might be able to help with suppliers
