How to undo tissue from doped balsa

Postby Szyp » Tue Aug 30, 2011 12:09 pm

I am having little luck tissuing my Fokker. I am taking the tissue off, wrinkles and all, and am going to cover it with 1/32 planking. Does anyone know a trick on how to get the recalcitrant shreds of tissue that are still adhering to the balsa- I used dope as an adhesive. I have been using an exacto knife, a sandpaper stick, and a razor blade, all with the utmost care. If there is a trick to loosening the bond between tissue and balsa I could sure use it. :?:

Try the same thinner you use to cut the dope. Dip a Q-tip in the thinner and rub the spots where the tissue is stuck, this should soften the dope and rub off the tissue.

Why bother if you're going to sheet it? Maybe lightly sand it off and avoid the fumes.
There can never be too many stringers
