400 Series. What to build after the Spit?

Postby buglecall » Tue Oct 18, 2011 6:30 pm

After building the 200 series WW1 kits i went with the 400 series Spitfire.
I learnt with the 200 series that all the builds were pretty similar aprt from the triple winger, that was cool.
So getting back to the 400 series, what would be the furfest from the Spit?
I am thinking the fw-190?
The guillows site does not show the bare build pictures for all the 400 series, just one!

Don't have the Spit, but probably the P-40 which has some unique and challenging attribuites.

Say buglecall....I see you're into warbirds. For a change of pace, perhaps try a high winger that's maybe a tad different from some other high wingers in Guillows line up. (It could perhaps be derived from the old Comet line.) The plane is Guillows Fairchild 24. Don't be fooled into thinking its primarily for kids. It's for anybody, and maybe has that different factor you seek.

I haven't started mine yet...it's in my queue, but it looks like a pleasurable build, and may just fly ok using out of-the-box materials, or so it seems, as long as its not painted. Of course, you can soup it up with heftier rubber, etc. Nice plane, nostalgic type predating Pipers, Cessnas.

Yes, I am primarily a Warbird guy too, but I get pleasure from building high wingers and bips almost as much.
