i think Made In USA Guillows kits and Fox engines are a good combination!
the engine mount on Fox is different than Cox but i think it'll work.
they come in .15 that might be too much for kits that used to use Cox .010.
then they have a 25, 40 and 50.after that prices go into the stratosphere.
here's pic of 35 Stunt and description.
'In production since 1948, current motor is near replica of 1951 model. Only available in control line form. A million or modelers have learned to fly with this motor.'

I have a COX .09 motor, which is a very big COX motor, which is still just under half the size of .15 FOX motor...

So, yes a plane that calls for an .010 motor might be a bit over powered by a .15...

don't look at me. that's what it's called on website.

it's first in line in control line and r/c engines.it's $66.95 right from Fox in Arkansas.
looks like it's a .015 but Fox just gives a number not .010 like cox did.

No, it's .15... Love to have one... It'd make some of my planes go like a striped ape...

Its quite a bit larger engine than the .049 or .051, and designed for larger control line models. it would be very heavy for your smaller Guillow's, and tremendously over power it.

http://brodak.com/engines/engines/broda ... ngine.html may be a better choice.

or even better, from Cox International in Canada.

You will find quite a selection of reasonably priced Cox engines here, plus parts galore.

you can find out what displacement is by e mailing them.
here's pic and link to the Fox 15 BB page.

can't upoad right now, i think you might be able to tell by comparing cylinder to prop holder
or engine mounts how big engine is.

Ummmm, I have been in this hobby for close to 40 years, so I am sure I know the displacements in question and how to determine the entire engine size. I have seen/used all these engines before, so have first hand experience, so no need to contact the mfg.The .049 number is the displacement size somewhat similar to a car engine size and I understand how it works so I have no worries there.

The smallest made used to be a .010, then a .020, .049, .051, .074, .09, .10. 15, etc, and so on. The .010 and .020 are no longer produced, and hard to find even on Ebay nowadays, but at least the .049 has come back.

The .15 is considerably larger than what you require for the Guillow's model, it is set up for anything from a .010 to a .049.

This is all just some friendly advice, said to save you some money in purchasing what is the wrong motor for your Guillow's.

hopefully, you have some experience with these motors if you are going to be playing with an engine of this size. They can be a cantankerous handfull and relatively dangerous for those unfamiliar in dealing with the power they produce. Not trying to be a wet blanket here but if you know someone experienced in starting and tuning procedures it would be wise to seek their counsel. You are entering a whole new world of performance, I would'nt want you to lose a finger the first time you tried cranking one up. Have fun and be safe.

xanadu & cliff
gee, all i did was put a period where it didn't belong. :)
i'm pretty sure that's a .015.
Fox doesn't name them like Cox did.
they just name them and that's it.
they've been doing it since '48 so they figure people know what they mean.
i hope nobody ordered one without talking to Fox.

xanadu & steve
i should have listened to Xanadu.
this is from Fox Manufacturing:
'it's a .15 engine.'
i'm still am amazed that a big Fox 15 or Fox Stunt 35 would
be about the same price as a Cox .049!

The Cox engines used to quite cheap, but over the years their demise, lack of sales, increased costs, etc all contributed to the costs.

One used to be able to buy a Cox "Black Widow .049" for around the $30 mark or less, and a regular .049 for around the $20 mark.

Saying that, Cox international has done a great job in bringing back these great little motors. If treated well and cared for they should last you quite a few years.
Their pricing is not out of line, and at this point I would purchase from them instead of something from Ebay. All their product in brand new, and has warranty at least.

Enjoy!

Because they never made them as small as Cox did.

they just name them and that's it.
Not quite.......they are listed as to size specific

Looks like you found out the answer to your questions from Fox already as well
