Opinions on modificatins to the 900 series mustang

As you can see I have increased the size of the W6 piece To full chord depth AND have duplicated it to give a true wing box.

As you can also see I have added a third stringer on the front leading edge to reduce scalloping, going over the wing ribs. and should also provide more support keeping the shape of the W1 former when shrinking tissue nice and drum tight. Also note the addition of pass through for the stringers none of which should come close to the band but will hopefully allow a nice tight join to the fuselage (something I have had issues with with the 900 series kits.)

I may add yet a further stringer between w1 and w2 to keep that piece from sagging. As these are so light and still a bit tail heavy I do not think the extra weight will be an issue.

I wanted to get opinions to see what anyone else thoughts or had recommendations.

If you really wanted to modify the 900 series then replace the wood with quality 1/16 sheet. The 1/20th sheet is horrible for this series especially the die crushed parts. Also add a nose block and make the airfoil thinner. Now for me that is too much work, so I just build out of the box. I have built this entire series and all have flown great out of the box. Some I added a removable nose block and others just the removable thrust bearing. Here is my Mustang build with no modifications and the only stress wrinkles I had was on the rudder. She flies great but would do better if I did no add the landing gear. I have not had any issues with the root ribs but I use kit tissue so the shrinking is not that severe. If I was using Esaki, I would preshink the tissue. All and all these are great kits that don't really need any modifications from the builder unless one is looking to compete. Now Guillows needs to scrap the 1/20 balsa and laser cut some quality 1/16 balsa and add a 6inch prop.
