You can also use Elmers "white glue" or similar. It is water based, thin it down with water and apply with brush to the contact area. Then attach the paper.
After that is dry, wet the paper with water. That will shrink the paper. Then apply the "dope" to seal the paper. Mitch

i use a GOOD glue stick. like Elmers. Make sure u run the grain correctly. ionce its on the frame I use a wet paper towel to shrink it. i heard that a 50/50 mix of Elmers glue and water woks well in place of dope, but I havent tried it yet.

The trick to water shrinking tissue is to use as little water as possible. Spray a fine cloud into the air and waft the part through the mist. Just enough moisture so that the tissue starts to sag.

If you dope the tissue, airbrush on a very light, thinned dry coat. Let that cure until dry to the touch, sand it with fine sandpaper to remove the fuzz and then gradually build it up with more thin coats.

In regard to water shrinking tissue it is all situational. I usually soak my tissue with alcohol not water. It shrinks tight. If I was using water I would do the same. I DO NOT Shrink the tail feathers on my airplanes unless there is an airfoil.
