Kitmaker promotes his kits in Guillows rc conv build thread

Postby Bill Gaylord » Fri Aug 23, 2013 10:36 pm

I thought this was a bit out of line for someone to spam a Guillows build thread, suggesting that since he believes that his kits are "better" for rc, that people should buy them instead. Guillows builders, or any builders for that matter, do not want our build threads interrupted by asking us to debate Guillows versus their own personal brand of kits which they are trying to sell.

Instead of another Guillows why not get a 109 that is meant to be flown as RC?

Kohlmann's 30" 109 is a proven flier and he uses the Blue Wonder for power in his designs.

Longhorne in here, also has build thread.

If you want others he has the Wildcat, Ki84 and Bosley has the P40 and Zero.

Yes, this is a sales pitch

But, will save some aggravation in the long run.

What's interesting is that the above post was inserted in the thread of a guy who claims to be a new builder/flyer and is new to that forum. Realistically, that person will have a learning process to go through, regardless of what planes they start out with. Recommending any warbirds is really not good advice, and they will all present a steep learning curve. Reality is that if the person wants to take on the challenge, they will not see Guillows conversions as "aggravating", but as an excellent learning experience. Some of the most masterful scratch builder/kit basher/rc kit converters I know started out on Guillows warbirds, and they are also what I started out on myself. In the "long run", these builders seem to be among the most successful and knowledgeable. Just a few of the many I've enjoyed below:
