Series 2001 P-38 Lightning

Postby garyo75 » Thu Aug 29, 2013 1:56 pm

I have had this kit in my stock for way too long, and have decided to assemble it with movable control surfaces. If I got wild and crazy, I could also have the canopy so it can be open or closed, with complete instrumentation and seating. Haven't made that decision yet. I originally bought this kit just for the plans. I take most of the plans I have found-either here or from the internet-and converted them to a 1/28th scale, so size-wise everything is proportionally correct when compared to the Guillows B-17 and B-24 kits. I like those two kits a lot.

I am asking for any pre-assembly advice from those here who have already assembled this fork-tailed devil. The P-38 is one of my favorite planes from WWII.
Any help or advice is appreciated.

Hi, I built this kit a long, long time ago. When it first came out. I have another in the box, when I build it again, it will be for rubber power, so mine will have minimal "extras".

I can only say take your time look things over... as is always a good idea, have your supplies ready. I think it would be a good idea to have a secure work place as this can be a labor intensive kit and take a fair amount of time to complete.

Good Luck and keep us posted. Mitch
