Aeronica

Postby davidchoate » Thu Jan 02, 2014 2:13 am

I recently bought an old Thomas Morse Scout , and it came with an old catalog. There's a plane in there for electric RC called Aeronica. It looks like a nice plane, and the only Rc plane I ever heard of Guillows making.IT has a68 " wing and boasts a whopping39 oz. ready to fly. Considering the advances in electric flight since the 80's I bet it could be a bit lighter today. Does anyone know of this?are plans available. I have'nt seen any on E-bay.

It was a very semi-scale electric power RC trainer, kit #3001. I believe it came out in 1989 and was designed by Woody Blanchard. It didn't really look much like an Aeronca, though.

This is one of Guillow's late 1980s low production R/C kits. "Aeronica" is an unintentional mispelling in the product catalog. This design incorporates torsion bar landing gear. The torsion bar is half the fuselage width in this embodiment.

Guillow's also issued 3 short run scale R/C kits:
#1501 Cessna 170A (1978)
#1502 Bellanca Cruisemaster (1978)
#1503 Piper Tomahawk (1979)

And they came out with R/C kits in the mid 1950s:
#GM-1? Trixter Beam 1953
#GM-18 Explorer 1954
#GM-22 Vanguard 1955
