Prop thrust bearing - Cement it?

My plans for Kit 302 (Cessna 170) don't direct either way for attaching the prop thrust bearing. Seems a loose fit to not cement it into the cowling...but don't want to glue something in that I'm not supposed to. I've heard advice go either way...

don't cement it if you want to be able to replace the rubber band..

But if the nose cowling is removable and the rubber band loops onto a hook, how does that affect the thrust bearing?

Because if you want to add downthrust you will not be able to do so with the nose bearing glued in, you done want to have to add down thrust to the cowl.

and I guess I missed the part where the cowling wasn't fixed to the nose of the plane properly...how to maintain alignment if its not glued on?

I remember when I was just a boy, When I would get a Guillow's rubber band powered stick airplane, they had C grain sheet wings and tail stablizers. The 2 blade props, wire landing gear, and mounting piece were all ready assembled for you. Guillows still sells these, but as I can recall there was a hard plastic bearing in between the 2 blade propeller, and the mounting piece, the wire, just like the ones they still sell today, was already bent and in place. The 900 series kits that I started building way back then also included this little hard plastic bearing. Why did Guillows stop including these bearings? Some thing else I remember about the old stick airplanes, the rubber bands were long enough to let the propellers freewheel after the rudder band unwound.Does anyone else recall the little hard plastic bearings? Where can I buy some of these little bead type bearings?

My Guillows Robin came with one, although being a r/c conversion, I used it for the tail wheel. Small and light.

I have a number of the old wooden thrust bearings and wheels, for someone that's into the vintage look, but the Robin is the only kit I remember having a bead bearing. The 1960 Guillows Storch and Rumpler kits didn't even have one, and they're quite old.
