It was at the US Space and Rocket center (They also have "Aviation Challenge" which is more about being a fighter pilot). In Advanced Acedemy you can choose betwen pilot or Mission specialist. I chose pilot of course, cause ya' get to fly the shuttle and do all the cool jobs in mission control (Mission specialists do EVAs). The simulator is very nice, Full scale shuttle cockpit and flight deck.
They have a nice mission control set up too. We rotated out positions in the shuttle and on the ground to see what we liked best. For the EDM (extended duration mission), I was the Flight director in mission control
other than that we got to do simulators, learn all sorts of stuff about the shuttle and its systems, about the history of space flight, do several engineering challenges such as building a model rocket to loft an egg (mine flew the best
), building a heat shield, and all other sorts of other neat stuff!
