A possibility for right now is the Civil Air Patrol (C.A.P.) if you think you are interested in the Air Force. The small group I was involved with gave us a few plane rides and an indoctrination of what life might be like in the military. All things considered it was an eye opening experience and we had a pretty good time and acquired a hands on education about the fundamentals of aviation. I'm not waving any flags here, I just remember it as one of the activities I enjoyed when I was about your age. An air force recruiter would probably have information about a group nearest where you live. No, I never did join the air force!

Some day I will build the Guillows Space shuttle, looks like a fun build and it would make a nice display. I have built the Estes Space Shuttle rockets and they are fun builds and fly great.

How do you fly them? R/C jet engine?

I use Estes Engines. These are kits from the 80's that Estes no longer makes, I bought them on Ebay. Here is one launching.

The mini-shuttle shown lifting off is a clever little rocket. Not hard to build, flies on small motors, and looks reasonable shuttle-like.

Except for the decals, there are no unusual / custom parts.
