looks like nice clean construction too

whats the deal with the rudder? - I am not familiar with this kit...

the rudder you have to glue together the outer parts of the frames. then you have to lift it off the plans and build it while it is off. this i find a little dumb, but of course someone is gunna say that its just the way it is or something so ill just deal with it. post pics of progress tomorrow.

the annoying parts of the rudder have been completed. i used CA to make it easier on myself. i dont mind the stuff to much, but i realize how unsandable it is compared to my white glue. i use white glue as much as possible, but i dont want to make it so much harder just to say i used white glue on the whole thing

Whenever I have to build a structure like that, I use balsa shims for the perimeter and that seems to work pretty good and still use white glue. I for one hate CA, it is messy and can ruin a project in a matter of seconds, but there are times I have to use it. If I have to wick glue into a tight area I will use it. Also when sheeting a fuselage as in RC builds I sometimes have to use because of the bizarre curves of the fuselage.

scigs, i thought about the balsa risers. the plans dont even call for them. they called for them on the stabilizer, but not this one. it needs to be rethought... i understand that someone could jurry rig the risers no matter what the instructions say, but the way guillows wanted me to do it was not very smart, at least i think.

I looked on Guillows Parts page and it shows the kit coming with 3 sheets of silkspan.

have these kits always had silkspan in them? this kit came with the finer tissue that guillows has. im not sure it is silkspan. maybe it is. the kit is from 2007.

it actually wasnt as hard as i thought it would be. now its just making the prop (ive already started) rockets, external fuel tank, bombs (both plastic parts) and a bunch of other little detail. i also have to take care of the landing gear detail and such

wings winished. just gunna sand some seams.

got a couplel little wrinkles here and there by the M parts (TE by the moveable flaps/ailerons) but then again i didnt add any gussets, and followed the plans in terms of any mods

so far so good. stabilizer piece, and verticle stabilizer piece covered and ready for dope.
