Rigging wire fasteners?

What does anyone suggest as anchor points (where you attach the rigging wires to the frame? I am working on a Thomas Morse, and have pretty much figured out everything else (famous last words) with a lot of help from my friends here on the forum, but would like to benefit from someone's experience before I goof the whole thing up. The directions recommend black thread, and I was thinking (?) that cut down straight pins with small heads might serve the purpose. Please stop me befor I ruin the whole thing!!

i use sewing thread. its very thin and easy to work with. for this one here, i actually poked a hole through the part where the thread meets the tissue. i secured that using a little bit of white glue.





you will notice here i tape the thread down. this is to hold it tought over the control horn as glue dries. then i just use a sharp razor to cut it at the control horn.

yes, indeed. that is something i like about the method. you have time to make adjustments if you goof somthing up. keep in mind there are other methods aside from that. some people for the wing suport struts actually drill holes for the rigging, and tie them on that way. others use elastic thread that looks tought without really being tought.

When I was building models of the great clipper ships I would use black thread drawn across beeswax for the rigging. The wax provided some moisture protection, I think, and gave some stiffness to the thread.

Yes I did- for 40 years. 26 as a High School History teacher, 7 as a High School Principal, and 7 as a College Professor, and a grand total of 57 athletic seasons to boot. When I turned 62 and had my 40 in, I decided to retire, and that was 2 1/2 years ago. How did you know that?
