High Wing Inquiry, Comments, Suggestion

I'm confused some...and on-line ads/text not clear. Perhaps there's pix/comments in forum here. Would like to know difference between Guillows Aeronca Champion Kit #301 vs similar Super Piper Cub 95 Kit 303. (Guillows shows skeleton of Cessna Kit #302 but not Aeronca or Piper kits, or I can't locate.)

Those new planes look good; Beaver was a bush pilot staple. The early pix shown indicates less stringers than others in 300 series. Another comment.... Swiss Platus Porter, ugly duckling type, was configured a turbo prop. I saw this workhorse only in movies, one a 007 Bond flick when he sky dives into plane going off a cliff. Only in the movies.

Might be nice to have a wish list poll someday for new (or repeat) models....I'd like to see Fokker D.VII again, and a workhorse plane, Antonov AN-2 biplane often multi task craft... still may be used some areas in eastern Europe and elsewhere.

Pilatus

Postby peterc4 » Wed Aug 10, 2011 3:29 pm

Oddly enough, I saw a Pilatus Porter in the sky the other day. There is a little puddle-jumper airport nearby which caters mostly to ultralights and very small cabin planes. I heard a louder-than-usual flyover and looking up in the sky...a blue and white Pilatus Porter flew overhead. First one of those I have ever seen.

The field is very very short - I wish I could have seen the takeoff or the landing.

Anyway,

I kind of like the Pilatus Porter - its so ugly that its cool - the Honda Element of airplanes. I cant wait till this kit is released.

High Wing Inquiry

Thanks David...will do. Am still getting my feet wet navigating around here. I may have tried the search earlier but maybe botched up somewhere...will give it another go. Again, thanks.

peterc4....Those Porters are noisy-ish. Likely you heard turbo. They're often used for parachute/sky diving. Maybe small airport nearby gives lessons or has club. Porters good for short take offs/landings. I often see photos of 'em in blue & white. Think this ugly duckling was also in 1990 movie "Air America." I'll buy model when it's available.
