Pilot's seat

Postby Szyp » Mon Sep 05, 2011 1:53 pm

Again, I know I have seen them somewhere on the net, but can anyone steer me to a source for 1:12 scale pilot's seat for my Sopwith Camel I am starting? :?:

I reckon you have the skills and ability to craft your own seat. You don't need a shop bought item and I think you will find they are in fact very easy to make and you will feel very proud of the finished result. Have a go and see how you get on - you might be surprised !

I think you are right. after I posted it, I realized I was looking for a short cut, and they never work. The machine guns, however vex me no end trying to get them glued together properly and looking reasonably good, but I can still do that if I can not find a reasonable "kit" to make them.

Try filling the plastic pieces with "One Time" light weight spackle. After it drys cut out the parts. The dry spackle gives you a lot of surface area to glue to.[img][/img][img][img][/img][img][/img]Image[/img][img][img][/img][/img]ImageHere is a seat I made from an old playing card, balsa for the base, some leather from an old wallet, and some wire insulation

The seat you fabricated is phenomenal!! Is there a way you could e mail me a paper pattern- I would like to try my hand at making one, but I am still re-learning at age 65 how to build thee models. If you can, I will be very gratefukl, if not, thank you for your kindness and consideration.

Durhams water putty works very well to cast the plastic parts in the kits. I mix it a little wet and pour it in the "molds". Spraying the plastic with silicone lube keeps the finished pieces from sticking. I learned of this from rcgroups.
