Very excellent! The whole plane looks like it has been cast. Any chance you could provide a further explanation about the procedure and materials you used for casting the wheels. The flimsy 2 piece wheels that Guillow provides seem like such a shame.

That’s quite a coincidence, I just received a Micro-Mark catalog in the mail today. Looks like current price for 2 part casting resin and release agent is right at $60, including shipping. If I understand correctly, after the resin is mixed and release agent applied to the inside of the Guillow’s plastic wheels, the resin is poured into the wheel and allowed to cure. It appears that you have suspended the new molded resin wheels on a piece of thin plastic to hasten curing. Once cured the two parts are glued together and finished.

This plane is going to be stunning when done.

That is just an amazing model. Your work gives us beginners a goal to shoot for. I have read all your posts about finishing and painting but it is still hard to believe that is brushed-on finish. Excellent work and thanks for sharing the construction with us.

David....I believe in the past you have used heayweight silkspan as a final skin just before your painting. Did you do the same with this Eagle???

I have the Today's Hobbies F-14 and F-16. Also, Guillows F-14. I want the Dumas F-105 but can't justify the expense. I plan to make them into flying model rockets, thats why I asked about the weight. If your interested in seeing my Fighter Jet rockets, there are three build sites, The Rocketry Forum, Ye Olde Rocket Forum, and RC Groups. and Youtube has the videos of them being launched. I use the same name as this forum. I like my models to fly!

(make sure everything is glued on real, real, real good...)

zero to 400 mph in like one second is just a little bit faster than stick and tissue is ready for, if you get my drift...

Not saying don't do it, just saying do it with great structural integrity...
