Starting to build the new Beaver kit. All are welcome to post your build in this thread. All comments are

how did you get one so fast?
have they always put black outline around parts?
don't remember that from my collection in 90's.
looks like they've replaced engine recommendation with 'fluff'
in one of the 3 little boxes on front of box.
box and kit look great.

They use a special tool now that inserts ether into the balsa sheets around the part edges, and since ether is black you get the black lines.

True, I do not see any gas engine recommendations for this plane.

They are the burn marks from laser cutting.

Hi Cutter. Looking good so far. This kit's 'replacement parts' webpage shows two different propellers - the standard 4" red and a 7" black. From your pictures, I think I can see they are both included in the kit. Can you confirm this? Sorry if this has already been mentioned (perhaps by Howard), but if so, I must have missed it.

Yes both props are included in the kit.

Guillows should probably just make decent propellers in the first place... at least they are giving the option of a larger one. I think they are of low quality.

I have to disagree a little BIT with you ADW. I Think that the guillows props are actually quite reasonable IMO, the 5" are pretty good on peanuts for fun flying (esp if you need to add noseweight) The biggest problem is that they are just simply too small even for the 500 kits, which would do much better with the 6" one that we know guillows make.....

I have to wait a while before I can get hold of a kit (being in the UK) , but from what I've seen they do look good. Keep the pics coming

The Beaver and Porter prototypes have been flown with both props as well as after market props. If you are going to fly one of them use the 7" black prop or your favorite 7 to 8 inch after market prop.

The 7" black prop originally came with the 200 series kits and it really isn't bad. I used a black prop on the Piper Super Cub that I built for the "G" Challenge last year. It was an almost straight out of the box build with an old wood, die cut kit, (70 grams with rubber and ballast!) and with the red prop it would not have flown. I should probably get a laser cut one with new wood to build for comparison.

Slow and steady progress. I did not use a fixture, looks straight to me.
Next a couple more formers, bending wire and then the stringers.
