B-17 Flying Fortress Build to Static

Lots of work done over winter break.
Everything covered, except some of the fuselage (seen in pictures)
tail feathers have one coat of aerogloss dope. (thinned as always) I will dope one three coats, sanding with fine sand paper as perscribed.
everything has been built per the plans with no modifications. i will probably go for the box art paint job. i like the green with the white belly.
also i am getting the engines on. the plastics for the most part are a pain, but i have yet to see more trouble since i am not nearly done with plastic parts.

David, I am confident you have built this kit at least once. I need to know how the bottom engine half of the inboard engine goes on. The instructions always lack a good detailing as to what is to be removed from the plastic parts when they are cut off the sheets and what is meant to stay. if you could help, that would be great. Pictures would be awesome.

looks like im ordering a new plastic sheet to get a new bottom half of that inboard engine...

I have been once again very busy with school and sports and the social aspects of my life so I have not had much time to build. I had some time today to get some work done and i have been putting on a piece of tissue here and there since my last updates. I have since then finished all covering. I have to add dope to the fusselage, and wings. I have not picked a color scheme quite yet, but will soon.

David, if you could post some picures detailing the following:

L1 connected to the wing (rear of L1 and front where it is kind off the main fuselage)
I would like to see what you did with the engine + propellers

I think that is it for now. I also have to order a new plastic piece for the left inboard bottom because i messed it up with lack of instruction detailing what the plastics should look like cut out. so i will have to order online.

Some more work done. All but a couple of the clear plastic bits on. I havent decided if i want to add the paper patterns with clear plastic glued on them as windows yet. will decide later. i have masked off the clear windows with tape so i can spray color on without messing up my windows where i dont want paint. pretty solid so far. ordered replacement parts that i need through guillows on monday night. i havent gotten an email yet saying it was shipped like they normally do but i hope to get it by the end of the week.

I'm not sure on a color scheme. It's really up to the person who I am building this for.

Went to the paint store and got some airbrush paint. did some color mixing and came up with satisfactory mixtures. i put 3-4 good coats of paint on top of 3 coats of dope. pretty happy with it so far. also painted inside of the engines with my airbrush. ill get decals on and ink in all of the panel lines before i assemble. i also have to add a number of details, but we will cross that bridge when we get there. for now-

start on the little ones first. they are lots of fun to build. even for static. if you are looking for a challange maybe go for WWI series. those can be a little more challanging.

ok maby ill try the sop with camel. i used to play this pc game on my windows 95 and it was "redbaron 3D" a super fun game! also it was one of my fave "aircraft" in the game.
