Need help with Cox .049 engine

Hello everyone, I recently recieved some old control line models from a friend of mine and they came with two Cox .049 engines. One of the engine's crank shaft is broken so I won't be able to use it,now, this is where I need help. The other engine is seized up, I oiled and lubricated it to try and get the parts to move but nothings working, any suggestions on what I can do? or is it impossible to fix?

You could try soaking the motor in some kind of penetrant like PB Blaster for a couple of days. Also, you might try one of the Radio Control forums on the internet.

you can get a replacement shaft online for the broken one.

Believe it or not, but take an old crock pot, etc and put in some antifreeze. Turn it on high with the motor in it. Let it boil for for a couple of hours and it will unseize the motor.
YOu could use a smallpot on a hotplate,s tove etc. But make sure its a pot you do not want later touse for cooking in, as it is not a good idea to reuse for cooking with.

lower into the radiator of the car.

maybe put some cardboard in front of radiator to

get it nice and hot!

i'm going to go put my Goldwing in the oven to cure glue!

You ever run a vehicle without the rad cap on.....? Then you would know that your suggestion in not feasible.

HI all, sorry for the long wait this page takes a long time to load most of the time. I have got my engine unseized with a blow dryer, i heated it up and managed to keep turning the shaft till it started to go around smoothly,but when I put the cylinder on the piston gets stuck half way up for some reason. And i'll need to find some new glow plugs if I can. As for the pics I don't know how to post any, I've read on here that you need a photobucket account which I don't have. The plane I have is an old Cox Hustler, I don't know if any of you have heard of that before.Anyway thanks for the help.

Dear Piper,
I've had some luck freeing up old glow engines by either putting them in the oven at about 200 degrees for a short time,or
using a monocoat heat gun on them.Be sure to use gloves or oven mits to keep from getting burned.You will find that after a short while,
the castor oil residue from the fuel will soften enough to allow you to turn the propellor in small steps.Keep at it for a while and before
long you can put in some glow fuel through the exhaust ports and will be able to turn the prop through a full revolution.After you get to
this stage,you can work the prop bck and fourth and the motor will start to free up.After that you can disassemble the engine and wash
it out with thinner or fresh glow fuel and it will disolve the varnish in side.I've picked up quite a few seized engines at swap meets and
tag sales and have had success with this method even though its not all that sophisticated. Hope this helps!

Hi everyone, for the piston not moving all the way up the cylinder should I put some cox fuel in there or oil? That plane is the exact one I have but mine is in yellow. I will see if I can get some pics of the plane and the engine on here.
