Free Flight Tips Wanted

model builders

i was skimming one of the Don Ross books and

it said if plane is light when it lands it causes less damage.

then an old timer told me he takes a stick with a noose on it

to get plane out of trees.

how about some more Free Flight tips?

Oh, there are plenty of tips...Hardly know where to start.

My advice is to glide trim the model, first. Get it gliding correctly before trying low powered flights. (100 turns on the rubber band or so).

I would echo Wildpig on the primary being unpowered glide trim first. Then gradually work your way up on the number of turns you put on the rubber per flight.

Others tops would include:

Make sure you try to keep the balance point as close as possible to the plan ( usually can be found on the fuselage plan )

Don't bother with they gray spaghetti rubber in the kit. Get some good rubber for the motor, and do proper break in/lube.

Early mornings are best for little, to no wind, for optimal flying conditions.

Pay really close attention to keeping the wing perfectly symmetrical in airfoil shape, and weight on both sides.

Hope this helps a little. Have fun & good luck!

wild & pauli

i think the 'glide trimming' is the trick too.

i'll see if it's in Guillow's instruction's and

slap a Neon post it on it. :)

also look in Don Ross books and

bookmark if it's in there.

so when plane's built i don't run out and

wonder why it's not working right! :)
