I just made a spinner, using a drill press turned mold. After a few tries, I was able to get a good one, pulling sheet plastic over the mold, after heating with a heat gun. The mold was placed on a stand, to allow an additional inch or so above the table, to pull the hot sheet plastic. I had a manufactured spinner for the little Guillows 190 rc conversion I just finished, but the plane actually ended up too nose heavy. The new spinner is lighter and smoother running than the manufactured one. I've made spinner molds numerous times for specialty planes, and the Guillows kits were what got me started in making the molded parts. I used to think I would be lost, without manufactured molded parts. They are not difficult to make.
