Center wing section completed and added to the fuselage letting iut dry over night tomorrow i will fill in the wing center section with the kits fillets

all of the wing fillets are added andthe center wing section is installed in position nex I will contruct the bobm dropping trapeze and bomb assembly. then i will add the center dive break and prepare the structure for painting.;

got the ri9ght winf outer panel installed next I,ll get started on the left wing panel. If everything goes as planned I will start on the primeing and the final painting.

I have both outer wing panels on letting dry I should have this build completed by tomorrow evening sometime . not much of a build just another SBD.

Wings are all covered and ready for primeing and the finished paint schedule. The dive brakes will be installed when the tissue dries foir the night. I will have this done tomorrow and it will be it for me for a long while. I have other projects waiting for me to finish up on

Got the painting done now I am starting on the decals, Looks like i will have this done tomorrow sometime. build is going slow but getting her done.

Hi guys ,
just joined the forum. I am in the middle of building the sbs dauntless. My question is about the stabilizer
rudder. The plans say use former b10a, but if you glue this in you cant slide the stabilizer in. Do you slide
the slide the stabilizer in before you cover it with tissue?

Before you slide the horizonal stabilizer in position the intire fuselage has to be covered first. Rear former B10-A at the bottom of thatr former you have to remove the bottom section to clear the stabilizer the bottom of that section has to be cutted off first before you cover the fuselage if you dont you will run into trouble the rule of thumb inb my book allthough every builder is different I cover all frames before assembly. you have anymore probles I amk here to help you this kit is the 6th I have built scince its release in 1971.

I see in your pictures a can of krylon clear. Is this what you use to coat the model before covering
with tissue? If not what do you use?

On the tissue job I apply a mixture of water and carpenters glue to the thiskness of heavy cream. I brush on the mixture to the frames and laydown the tissue pulling out wrinkles as you go and let dry then spray down a a mixtures of denatured alchol and water on the tissue when the tissue is taught and dry spray on the krylon magic in the can. this will seal all of the pores in the tissue then you can go ahead and paint. I normally use Areo gloss nitrate and butrate dope but its getting hard to find i9n hobby shops with the event of almost ready to fly and ready to fly models nowdays thye model builder in general dont want to spend the time inj building stick and tissue kits anymore a lost art of modeling. so the suplply and damand of dope is fadeing away from the scene there are other methods that work even better the soloution above I gave you works best, Krylon clear is highly recamended.
