Dad was teasing me about how I took longer to build a little model B-17 than it actually took to make one during WWII under war time pressure

The BBC did a programme recently about the Wellington Bomber (the "Wimpy" as it was known to it's crew). It was designed by Barnes-Wallis the guy who designed the bouncing bomb. Anyhow the programme centred around how the factory built one in less than 24 hours. You'd have to have gone some to beat that Alex!

Alex, your completed B-17 looks great. Did you weight the assembled and covered model? I've often wondered what the weight would be.

Simpleflyer, I did not bother to weigh it but the uncovered fuselage frame weight upwards of 55g when i weighed it some time ago. no doubt it is very heavy... way to heavy for my little pocket sized scale.
