SE5a

Here's a pic of my SE5a. I built this one last year. I always build with flight in mind, but at 140g I think there is no way this brick will get off the ground.

This one is lazer cut and the only mods were the Vickers MG mounted in the fuselage and the gun sight.

Nice details. I'm kinda surprised that your model weighs that much being laser cut. I have a laser cut SE5a, without ballast,
it's 85 grams. Ballast probably will make it be close to 100g. I think it will make an o.k. flier.

Thanks... I am surprised also. I only weighed the model today as I was asked about the wt of the D8. I might have too much ballast in it though. I will take some out before I try to see if she will take off.

I put a lot of thought and effort into the mg's and scope. I was not satisfied with the details on the instructions. Guillows had more info on there 100 series. I was not sure how the Lewis track came down until I did some more research and saw they had a sight scope... so I made that with a paint brush cover of a size I liked and covered the ends with masking tape, then paint...presto.

The Ying Yang wheel paint is just for my fancy... no known pilot.

PS The D8 and SE5a were the first 2 kits I made as a kid...100 series. These 2 came out better.
