Well, it looks to me like first they started off by blowing the price up to almost double. Then they offer the old die cut kit for $9.00 less than I bought the Laser cut version for when it first came out. I don't know, if you would use the kit wood and plastic then it's a good deal. If it is actually the laser cut kit then it's a great deal!. It's like they don't know we can go to Guillow's web site and buy it direct for $46.99. WOW A $30.00 SAVINGS! WHAT DO YOU KNOW!
If you go to the URL and type in a 401 you get the BF109 die cut for $46.99 not on sale. Obviously they are scamming with the original price point on the Warhawk. Very slick. OK, not really. How about obvious.
Model Expo are decent folks, but they do inflate their prices considerably so they can run frequent "50% off sales". I rarely pay more than 50% of their list price and regardless of how you arrive at the price, $20 for a 400 series kit is good and I only speculated that it was die cut, it may in fact be laser cut. You're welcome to not buy if their methods offend your senses.
I ussually buy my stuff from ac supply. 400 series for $35, buy 3 to be over $100 and free shipping. I think 20 dollars is still a good deal even if it is die cut. I did not look to what shipping would be. I don't need more inventory right now. Of the six 400 series I built, two were die cut, the Zero and the Warhawk. Mitch
