Junkers JU 87-B Stuka---Phase 1

After several attempts and failures, I was considering going back to plastic.
If it wasn't for this forum, I think I would have done.
Not to be defeated, and waiting for a warped wing to recover, I started to build the Stuka (508) then started to think I've taken on to much for a novice.
Not looking forward to putting tissue on the plane

Paul,

I would have to agree that you have taken on quite a bit with the Stuka. Have you done a sport model yet? Just because the structures are less complex and yet have enough to learn from. Also they are simple enough to feel a real sense of accomplishment when you get them up in the air and see that you CAN get these things to fly. Just a thought.

I choose the Stuka kit 508 for my next build. I will replace the kit wood with Contest Balsa. Also I’m going to try and fly it. I have heard they are really tough to trim. I hope I’m not highjacking your fine thread but any advice for flying the Stuka would be appreciated

Cover it using the Johnny Cash method..... one piece at a time.

You'll get it done. I agree that the Stuka is a little tough to cover and one of the sport models would be an easier start.

Guillow's has several choices,that fly well. Cadet, Flyboy,Javelin, Lancer.
Easy to build and cover. Fun to fly.

Hat's off to folks using tissue. I've gotten too lazy, after using Coverite Microlite. After a coat of flat paint, it looks like the most wrinkle free tissue job ever done.


BTW, the little plane is an excellent flyer. I was afraid it would have tip stall issues, but it turned out to be the best micro I've flown.

I think I got away Ok with the tissue.
Now to start painting. Or may just leave it and just put on the decals
