that can happen
The way I do it (others here may do things differently) because I have no paralax error( Parallax is a displacement or difference in the apparent position of an object viewed along two different lines of sight, and is measured by the angle or semi-angle of inclination between those two lines) due to my lack of binocular vision. I stand the wing ribs up glue them into place on the wing leading and trailing edges and standing right over the plans I sand the notches directly into the former lining up where they are shown to be on the the plans. I make my sanding notcher out of a strip of balsa and glue sand paper on to the stick then of course trim to fit. that way you are able to see the exact depth and width of the groove.
