500 series nose cowl

Postby hellcat » Wed Jan 30, 2013 12:22 pm

I dident dry fit the nose cowl till after i had put the stringers in the frame, I sanded the stringers so thin I broke them handling the model. so next time ill dry fit the cowl before I install the stringers .
My question is should I not cut the notches in former b1 and butt the stringers to it after a dry fit? OR cut the notches to fit after a dry fit ?
how do you glue the cowl to the model after its covered?

Thanks

I generally cut the notches after a dry fit.

Cut out your cowling and sand as needed. Dry fit B1 into the cowling, Sand B1 as needed until it fits snugly inside the cowl. Notch B1 and build fuselage. Glue cowl to fuselage. For static display, you can probably use any glue to get the cowling to stay in place.
For flying models, because of the tension of the rubber motor, the cowling really needs some kind of spacer or nose block in the space between very front and Former B1.
