I was a lucky winner at a so called "Tricky Tray" church bazaar...item>> an unopened "Flyline Racer"...likely perhaps unwanted gift from holidays. Appears to be an RC plane, 1 foot wingspan, with an electric motor to be used in like old around-the-pole fashion. Haven't opened yet...may just give it to neighbors kids. But, a thought occured to me. I've a backup of Guillows kits and would be interested in modifying to possibly use the old ATP way. (They were slated to be static or rubber powered using supplied kit parts, with likely retirement after a flight or so.)
Hmm...idea maybe, perhaps open this boxed Flyline item, study literature enclosed, remove the guts, install motor, RC parts, battery system, and (attempt anyway) to modify a Guillows balsa model. (I'd likely try Flyline before stripping it to satisfy curiousity.) In my area, free flight can create problems which did not exist. ATP may be good now, for me anyway. Question...any of you guys have experience/exposure to this Flyline Racer or equiv? Am I just wasting time ? I see item on line....looks like an RC toy..and later saw it in a toy store. But, it just might work!? Any opinions? Thanks. Ray
