Sorry but I will no longer be offering these plans as I've had issues with a few members over it.

Guillow owns all the Comet stuff. G bought out that company a few years ago.

I am interested in the Comet line of models. Although, many of the Comet plans did not have patterns for formers and ribs.
Making scratch building much guess work.

Is the Comet DVa (sometimes written as D5a) among your collection?

I was not aware of the fact that Guillows owns comet models, well that's cool. It looks like most of my scanned plans do have templates for ribs, formers, etc. included for the original die cut parts....I dont see the kit you requested in the list though...I'm so sorry

Guillow does own Comet Models, however I believe that the copyrights to the plans were allowed to lapse. They were under the old, pre-1978, copyright laws and needed to be renewed. As I understand it, this was not done and the plans are now in the public domain.

A few of the more popular Comet kits are available as laser cut short kits from independent vendors. From what I have seen these kits are done from scans of the original Comet print wood and while cleaned up for laser cutting they do not have re-engineered parts layouts to take full advantage of laser cutting.

There is one plan that is a bit of the holy grail of missing Comet plans. Some of these are old hobby shop tales and never actually existed, but there are several people that claim to have seen this one, the Republic F-84. Not the RF-84F, Thunderflash, which is available from several sources, but the original, straight-winged, F-84. If you have this one, you really have something.

Would it be possible to post a complete list of the Comet plans you have?

No, the one everybody is looking for is the straight-winged, F-84 Thunderjet. I don't know who started the search for it, but most of us are beginning to think that, as a Comet kit, that one is a myth.

Don't know if this is what is being sought, but Comet produce this Struct-O-Speed model in the mid 1950's.

Monogram produced the straight-wing F-84 in their 'Speedi-bilt' line.

Looking at steps #11 and #12, It appears that Monogram suggested flying this model via swing control or RTP using a Jetex-50 for power. As kids, one of my friends built a Long Midget racer from this series and rigged it up for S-C. I had the chance to fly it and it flew quite well as a 'swinger'

Did Comet have an Albatros DVa as well as a DV?
I thought outerzone had the plan, but apparently they do not have the Comet Albatros plan, although they have a number of other nice versions including the Sterling. Maybe I'll be a nice guy and send a plan scan to them when my Comet DV kit shows up that is currently on it's way here unless of course SoMeone has a major objection to it. So much for making a natural stained wood version, but the excellent molded parts were too nice to pass up. After the effort of doing a few natural wood jobs, it would probably never happen anyway, so at least this way I may actually build it.

Yep, probably what caused the confusion is that someone saw that it was not a profile fuse, so they included it in the stick-and-tissue category, simply because it had 3D form. Looks like a nice potential 900 series subject, with a framed bunt non-sheeted wing like the other planes in the 900 series line.

Yo, shawn...maybe you could help out this Jersey Boy. Recently bought, err, maybe got stuck on a couple eBay purchases and too costly and a hassle to return to sellers. Item is a DeHavilland DH-4. I bought a Guillows version, but box contained some dead insects (yes) and I opted to deep six when better half found where I hid it in basement. I also bought a Comet Version of the DH-4, about same wingspan, but it lacked 2 of the 3 die cut sheets, with formers, ribs. Though not impossible of course, it's a royal pain scratch making some "stuff" from main plan only, especially for bipes, and web sites rarely show Comet formers, ribs. I saw some DVD with plans, but hesitate since it may also lack the printwood plans or die cut part images. Any comments or, or can you help with the die cut sheets or printwood.

This is not to bad mouth eBay sellers, but as in any selling situation, whether at store level or on-line, auctions, etc, such things can happen. Actually, I've had way more good experiences with eBay than the occasional bad ones now and then. But, this was a double barrel bad, close together. It happens sometimes...so, any help would be appreciated, from you, fellow members, or Guillows....Comet. I'm always hesitant on bad mouthing people on eBay, feedback eg...a mixed bag, often they are unaware of some ot the problems with items they obtain, and yes, sometimes things are hidden. That's life I guess.
