Propeller question

Hello everyone. I'm brand new to building model planes and brand new to this forum. I picked up a Piper Cherokee 140 a while ago and decided to give it a shot, with no real guidance from anyone, besides some that I read online. The plane is by far perfect, and probably will not fly, but it's been fun. Anyways, I've attached the front plastic nose piece and am trying to figure out how to attach the propeller and thrust bearing. The Thrust bearing provided in the kit doesn't seem to fit in the opening of the plastic nose piece. Any suggestions? Also, I don't quite understand how the propeller works. Does it need to be glued to the shaft? Obviously the propeller needs to spin along with the shaft, but the instructions don't say anything about that. Any help would be appreciated.

The prop, shaft and nose button are not glued to anything, nor are they glued to each other. After you slide the nose button and prop on the shaft (hook facing aft) then bend the end of the shaft into an L-shape. There may be a pictorial diagram on the plans for this. If the nose button doesn't fit, enlarge the hole in the nose bowl (front) of the cowling.

The end of the "L" bent shaft butts against a step in the face of the prop so when it is wound it holds tight and once you let go that step stays against the L until unwound then the prop keeps spinning while the prop "jumps" over that L from the opposite side....I hope that made sense.

There should have been a booklet "How To Build and Fly A Balsa Model Airplane" A Step By Step Primer For Beginners included with the kit. Page 21 has a picture.

Welcome to the forum and balsa airplane models. I am really glad you had fun and you completed the model.

Just as the others have explained:
The propeller shaft in the kit is slipped through the thrust button and then through the propeller.
Then you bend that small "L" shape at the end.

You can see the end of the "L" that rides against the step in the propeller.

Since you plan on flying it?? Take a look at the thread on this forum about trimming a model for flight.

Thanks for all the replies...Now be easy on me, this is my first attempt ever. In the 2nd pic you can see how the thrust bearing doesn't fit in the nose...should I just cut it out? or sand down the bearing?

That's a real nice clean tidy build you got there for your first attempt
Don't go and spoil it when trying to fit the windscreen with CA, I recently have just learnt of a product here, called Formula 560 Canopy Glue

Looks like a nice build to me, too. Covering looks good, structure looks straight.

That thrust button in the cowling, you are just going to have to make a bigger hole.
Bore it out with a rolled up piece of coarse sandpaper or maybe use a drill bit.
