making direct connection with electric moror shaft and prop

Has anyone ever tried to connect the shaft of an electric motor directly to a prop shaft by using a length of heat-shrink insulation plastic? The idea appeals to me as being really easy, but I'm counting on the experts on the forum to let me know if I'm not totally nuts to have come up with this idea. (I'm a 75% novice, I estimate.)

Well, I have (in my scrap box) a setup for a small electric boat which uses a section of fuel tubing as the u-joint, so I suppose it's possible.

You may want to check out what the inside of a Dremel tool looks like- it has a plastic coupler that joins the motor to the output shaft.

Wouldn't it make a difference on the length, or distance? A 1/4", or a 4" length? Too long could give a lot of opportunity for vibration.
