rubber motor choices

i want to fly this again. does anyone know which rubber is best? and ehat length to make it, and how many windings i should do?i've never got into rubber flying before, but this model is perfect to experiment with. i think it could be fun.

Here is what WIDDOG used for his Guillow TBF , 500 series.

I was able to capture a decent flight on video. Now that I have a base "Set Up" I can work on maybe getting it to fly a bit better. !/16 inch thick rubber x 4 loops or 8 strands. x 2 length. 6 inch PP prop


He gives a 1/16" thickness but, not the width. I'm thinking 1/8" would be o.k.

Scale Rubber Power Free Flight is more addicting than coffee or cigarettes. Can you give us the weight of the model?

I would say that at 8 strands of rubber 1/16" would be the width not 1/8". I think 8 strands of 1/8" in that plane would turn it into a rocket.

Yes 1/16 inch thick rubber thread. It is possible that Peck Polymer does not make this size any more. I sort of remember that with 4 strands or two loops of 1/8 inch thick rubber the original power burst would cause the plane to bank to steeply into a right hand turn. The plane would stall out and crash on the right wing. Ok adjust the thrust angle and it would bank to the left. and crash on the left wing. I did use the dihedral angle the plans said to use.

ok. 1/8"x 4 standsx what length, and whats a guess on the max number of windings / not that im gonna start with that, but if i can get it trimmed, eventually i may need to know, just so i dont break the plane again. yes the rubber motors are fun, and CHEAP. i love RC, but i need help learning to fly. my LHS has a club and im gonna check it out this wek. maybe someone will be kind enough to teach me a little. i do have a transmitter that is trainer cable capable. thanks for the tips.

Rubber Powered model airplanes is the toughest hobby you'll ever love. I suggest you give it a fair chance and build a 600 Series kit. IMHO the control for Free Flight models is "Built Into" the model. The 500 Series kits are hard to trim and easy to crash.

i know. just look at all the holes in mine. easy and cheap to repair though.
