Target weight for 500-series P-40

Postby dirk gently » Mon Dec 30, 2013 11:17 am

Hello,

assuming the use of kit rubber and prop, what is the desired AUW of the model?
The wood in my kit was super-heavy at 0.26g/cm^3, and the model came up at a whooping 36g weight, despite leaving off the undercarriage and using light esaki for covering instead of the kit tissue. I kind of doubt if it will fly with a weight like this.

31g's should be fine if it's painted and ready to fly

I sometimes take the landing gear ff cause it usally breaks anyway,is 30g the wgt of ur model balanced, cause i've always had to add alot to the nose (15-20g or so to get balance )

Thin out frame of the tail and horizontal stabilizer, Trim down the A keels aft of B4. then if you still need to save weight, thin out the E pieces of Wing. You can also work the the insides of the fuselage formers if you are super into making it as light as possible.
