I added some stiff paper Nacelles. Also I made the wings detachable with rubber band hold downs. I did some test glides into the sofa. Really to early to tell but maybe.

I have seen info on other rc or electric flight forums, and your right. finding timers that are affordable, or even available is difficult, but some people have come up wuth clever things. i'm sorry i cant remember exactly what forum, but on one a guy ( who must have been a professional electronic engineer) actually was in the final stages of perfecting a very light prototype. . I myself have been wanting to do an elecrtic free flight for a while, but for the same reason ( not knowing how to time it to stop) I have not attempted. I think your Hercules is light enough to fly on 2 motors. maye drive the prop with a little fan belt type thing or something.the little 8mm motors are one of the only micro things i do find works well. I was amazed at the the power. holding a 60g plane and applying full power; it wants to just take off out of your hand if you dont have a firm grip.Like you I have so many ideas, and want to experiment, but I'm not Howard Hughes, and work a full time job. but maybe some day I'll get time. I just started a new job however, which gives me a much larger budget for my hobby now, and i'm learning more with every build, and it just keeps being more fun.

I found what looks like a really nice timer from Texas Timers. Com http://texastimers.com/. I'm not really thinking about electric at the moment.

I was reading the Flying Aces newsletter, I am a member of course. Anyway looks like this summer there will be a D-Day Combat event in Geneseo, NY. Not only can B 17's be entered, they are given a 35 point bonus, for four engine rubber powered model.

I am thinking about building a Joe Ott B 17 and entering the contest.

Finished enough to start test flying. Wow I really learned a lot on this build. Even if it doesn't fly I have no regrets

i bet you did learn; because i learned from watching it. honestly, (i'm far from a master builder), but builds like this make me think.and thinking is fun; at least i thinknso.

I have started another scratch build project. I am thinking about posting it here even though technically it's not a Guillow's kit.

Very nice build and great subject. Guillows has my vote for making this a kit. Widdog can you post the link to the video of you flying your C-130 here? I saw it somewhere and can not find it now. I think it was your C-130 anyway.
Thanks, John

Hi John

thanks much... I did post this video http://youtu.be/RznKXKCq4jE of my prototype c 130. Maybe it's the one you saw. I don't think the prototype fly's long enough on rubber power. I have an old Air Hogs compressed air motor. I am thinking about building a smaller yet longer flying model c 130 with the Air Hogs motor. I am taking a break from prototypes and building a 900 series Typhoon at this current time.

I thought about it and decided to bring back this posting. The problem being is that a C 130 is not a Guillow's kit " Yet". My intention is to try and gain interest in the possibility of Guillow's making a C 130 kit. Also I would like to give attention to Guillow's scratch building supplies.

My fist prototype seemed a bit large and I think that's why I was not able to gain as much interest as I hoped for. I decided to try a smaller prototype. Instead of a Tractor system, I will try to make four rubber motor system.

A rubber motor can be located in the fuselage, and then drive four props via system of pulleys.

Very interesting post. I actually have an old B 17 profile kit with the pulleys. I never built it but it looks like it would work. The propellers that came with the kit are Guillow's. The pulleys that came with the kit are made from the same kind of red plastic.

I like this video seems to show a good way to launch a 4 motor model.
