While repairing the FlyBoy and Cloudbuster wings, we decided to check out the Lancer wing damaged during the last flight session with the Javelin and Lancer. The damage is only to the leading edge. Should be a quick repair and flyable by wednesday.

The Lancer wing was a quick repair and the leading edge was reinforced.

By this afternoon the Lancer wing and others were repaired. The past few days were cold and rainy so we had a lot of building time.

A pleasant but cold weather change allowed some test flights and the Lancer wing did well.

Every December we try to do an sentimental exercise of remembrance of the Wright brother's first flight on December 3, 1903, by flying a model airplane on that day. Today is the 110th anniversary and we flew our profile CE-180 as our memorial flight.

A couple more bits of Wright Flyer trivia. This afternoon, Norma and I went to the Air Transportation Museum at Wm. Hobby Airport to donate some stuff. Over the years we have collected a bunch of aviation related stuff and now as we're reaching the end of our journey, we are disposing it to the museum.

While at the museum, we saw this model of the Wright Flyer that someone had donated(approx. 8 foot wingspan).

The last bit of trivia, this past May, Norma and I took a short vacation in Washington DC and had the opportunity to see the original Wright Flyer at the NASM. A memorable event for us.

The cold weather gives us an opportunity to repair some of our 'swingers'. So we decided to repair the horizon tail on the Lancer and a vertical tail for the Javelin. It would have been a simple and quick repair.

During the repair, an idea came to mind to alter the wing mounting rails on the Lancer and Javelin so that they would be compatible with the CloudBuster/FlyBoy series. This would allow more interchange of wings and fuselages of our fleet of flyers and offer to us a wider variety of model configurations to fly with. The Lancer wing was the first part of this modification.

On the bottom of page one of this thread is described how the removable wings were installed on the Javelin and Lancer.

The lancer wing attached to the modified CloudBuster 2.

The weather was a bit cold, overcast, and breezy, but we were able to make some test flights and the Lancer/CB2 combination flew OK.
